Pinkalicious Polish by Ginger + Liz Review

Pinkalicious Polish by Ginger + Liz Review

I’m really excited about this review. I’ve randomly been obsessed with my nails lately. (As evidenced by my posts on Instagram.) I’ve been familiar with Ginger + Liz for a while now. It’s a black owned company and its products are vegan-friendly and nontoxic. So it’s great for anyone, but especially for you beauties who are living vegan and / or nontoxic.

Last month, I attended the Marjani Beauty launch party in D.C. (Marjani Beauty is a black owned retailer that sells a curated selection of beauty products for women of color.) And in the gift bag was this pretty pink nail polish from Ginger + Liz called Pinkalicious.

At first, I thought it might be too light, but this color and formula is perfection. The first thing you’ll notice about the polish is the smell - or rather, lack of smell. It doesn’t have that overwhelmingly chemical smell that most polishes have. Which is a winner for me. My mom used to haattteee the smell of nail polish and I’d have to paint my nails outside or in the basement. Maybe if I had this polish I could have done my nails in my room like a normal child.

Second, it applies an opaque, even, self-leveling coat which is perfect after just one application. You totally do not need a second coat. (But you can darken it up with the second coat if you’d like.)

I’ve used Pinkalicious as an accent color under a gold glitter and matte top coat.

And I used Pinkalicious as an all over mani color. This was one of my most liked photos ever on instagram.

The price is $12, so it’s a bit pricey even over high-end brands like Essie or OPI. But based on the performance of Pinkalicious, it’s absolutely worth it. It’s a great product, nontoxic, not stinky, smooth and opaque, AND black owned. I’ll definitely be purchasing more shades and supporting this black business. Ginger + Liz comes in a wide selection of colors and is available at gingerandliz.com and MarjaniBeauty.com.
