Best In Glow: November's Play By Sephora Box
It’s my favorite time of the month. Time to play! As y’all know, I subscribe to Sephora’s monthly subscription box, Play! By Sephora. It’s 5 deluxe size samples and 1 fragrance sample a month. I’ve discovered some great new products using it and get exposed to a lot of the products on the market I wouldn’t have otherwise. Last month’s box was super duper lit, so let’s get into this month’s box entitled: Best In Glow!
Product: GLAMGLOW SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment, $22
Description: This formula was clinically developed by GLAMGLOW dermatological chemists to help fight all common skin concerns including breakouts, discoloration, black and white heads, razor bumps, and in-grown hair. Powerful, skin-clearing mud visibly draws out dirt and congestion while a proprietary six-acid blend dramatically brightens and softens skin. It works to draw out dirt and pores with activated-X charcoal, leaving skin smooth and healthy-looking.
My Take: I *was* going to try this because glamglow has been all over Instagram, buuuttttt it has activated charcoal in it. The last time I used a charcoal products my face broke out terribly. I’ll test out a small portion before using this.
Product: COVER FX Illuminating Primer, $38
Description: A silicone-free primer that gives the face a luminous glow while it helps to eliminate dull skin for a brighter, more radiant appearance.
My Take: As a deeply melanated woman with golden undertones, I am all for the glow honey! So, in theory, I like this product, but I have to see if it works well for oily skin types.
Product: SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Pin-Up Pink, $12
Description: Ultra Shine Lip Gel transforms lips with a gel-effect formula for a light-reflecting, plumped shine. Its ultra-light, sensorial texture is also hydrating.
My Take: I didn’t even open this TBH. I don’t like lipgloss and this is not the color pink for me.
Product: Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour, $29
Description: This multitasking eye shadow stick delivers both easy application and high-definition, long-lasting color. Long-wearing, transfer-proof, and crease-resistant, the color glides seamlessly onto lids and blends and layers beautifully with a rich pigment-payoff.
My Take: I’m not a huge eyeshadow girl, but I do love gold lids, so I might try this out. It’s a very pigmented creamy color so if you have oily skin, you’d def need a primer. It could also double as as a cream highlighter.
Product: The Estée Edit Dissolve the Drama 2-in-1 Makeup Remover + Cleanser
Description: A multi-action makeup-removing oil cleanser formulated with aloe, cucumber, and super-smooth oils to dissolve and rinse off even the most stubborn long-wear and high-pigment makeup. Use with a cotton pad over a targeted area for quick swipe makeup removal. Add water to turn the luxe oil into a milky cleanser that rinses clean with no film or greasy feeling.
My Take: Okay this seems really cool. Both a makeup remover and a cleanser when you add water? The texture is unique; it’s between a micellar water and a cleansing oil. Gotta love Estee Lauder for trying out innovative products with its Estee Edit line.
Product: Stella McCartney POP
Description: Stella McCartney POP is a floral woody fragrance that is bright, contemporary, and positive. The fragrance opens with initial notes of tomato leaves, violet leaves, and green mandarin. Heart notes of violet, tuberose, and plumeria and lasting notes of sandalwood, cedarwood, and musks add to the impression.
My Take: This is actually the first scent I've liked so far! It's very juicy and fruity without being too sweet. The only down side is that is goes on very strong and disappears quickly.
