Beauty, Set, Go! January's Play! By Sephora Box
Hey y'all! Welcome to my first blog post of the year (I know... I know...) and the very Play! By Sephora box of the year. Another great box with items I'me excited to try and a very cool bag this month. The front of it is a woven plastic, think a drawstring Nike backpack, and the back is mesh. It gives a funky athletic vibe great for the new year. Now to the makeup!
Product: tarte FRXXXTION Stick Exfoliating Cleanser, $22
Description: A twist-up, three-in-one facial cleansing stick. Get your quick Frxxxtion fix with this three-in-one exfoliator, cleanser, and face mask all in a portable, solid-to-suds stick. Great for all skin types, it can be used on a regular basis without stripping skin’s moisture or left on as a treatment mask to absorb toxins and reveal smooth, glowing skin. Ideal for on-the-go use, this travel-friendly cleanser features a targeted, straight-to-skin applicator that can be massaged directly onto the face so you can get dirty and then sparkle clean all in one fix.
My Take: The three in one aspect seems really cool. I’ve only tried it on my face and once applied it has a gritty feeling you wouldn’t expect. I don’t really like that part, but I might try it as mask.
Product: Caudalie Resveratrol Lift Face Lifting Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20, $66
Description: An oil-free, resculpting and plumping fluid with a breakthrough patent to volumize, firm, and smooth the look of mature skin. Formulated to help recontour, resculpt, and lift skin’s appearance, this product's ingredients—including peptides that work on collagen and elastin within the skin—help plump the look of skin, creating a visibly younger V-shape complexion.
My Take: Well… I don’t have “mature skin” so I won’t be using this for that purpose, but it smells soooooo good. It goes on thinly and spreads well and is lightly moisturizing.
Product: CLINIQUE Almost Lipstick, $17
Description: Not quite a gloss, and not quite a lipstick, this transparent lipstick fuses with the natural tone of your lips to create a lip look that’s unique to you. This sheer, emollient-rich formula glides on for easy layering.
My Take: Almost Lipstick is a very good description of this. It comes in a tube, but is so thin it almost like a stick lipgloss. It seems like it would be a good color, if it was more pigmented.
Product: Dermablend Loose Setting Powder, $27
Description: A loose powder to set makeup and reinforce wearability for up to 16 hours of consistent color. Great for all skin types and tones, it delivers medium to high coverage and leaves skin looking healthy and flawless.
My Take: Another right on time product because I was in need of a powder. My concealer keeps creasing. *booooo* I was about to (and still am) going to order the Laura Mercier powder, but in the meantime in between time I’ll try this out and do a comparison. It’s very soft and powdery, so I’m excited to try it.
Product: Ouai Treatment Masque, $32
Description: A restorative healing mask that’s formulated to leave strands incredibly soft and smooth after just one treatment. This intensive moisturizing treatment works in minutes to repair damaged hair and increase resistance to future damage. It is made with artichoke leaf extract to seal the cuticle and protect hair color from oxidative degradation.
Product: PINROSE Wild Child, $55
Description: Notes: Tiare Flower, Bergamot, Freesia, Gardenia, Jasmine, Frangipani, Vanilla Bean, Amber. Style: Energetic. Playful. Flirty.
My Take: The sample was in the form of a towelette, which is smart in theory, but I can’t smell it before I use it. So if I open it to smell it, I’d have to use it or it dries up. But I don’t want to use it, if I don’t like it.
