The Unbasic Basics: September's Play! by Sephora Box
Product:SEPHORA COLLECTIONRouge Shine Lipstick, $12.50
Description: A moisturizing lipstick with a rich, glossy shine. The Hydra-Comfort complex blend of moisturizing oils and antioxidiant vitamin E ensures optimal comfort, while nourishing and protecting your lips. The glossy shades include clear pigments and carnauba wax for a dazzling, wet-lip look. The shimmering and metallic formulas contain 3D shimmering particles and shea butter for extreme radiance.
My Take: I'm not a fan of sheer lipsticks. Reviews are mixed about the color and the staying power of this shade, which is to be expected with a glossy formula. Not a bad buy for $12.50 if you like glossy lips.
Description: A clear gel for all hair colors that sets, defines, and holds brows in place all day. This long-wearing clear gel sets and defines brows without fuss. The soothing chamomile formula also conditions hair and offers a lustrous, natural look.
My Take: My brow routine is very simple. Get them threaded every two weeks. Buuuuut fleeky brows is a hot trend I've wanted to try so maybe this clear gel will be the push I need.
Description: A liquid eyeliner with an innovative brush tip for effortless, precise application. The superfine and flexible brush tip glides across the lashline for incredibly fluid application, allowing you to create a variety of looks with ease. Unlike traditional felt tip liners, this brush tip will not fray.
My Take: Yall know how I feel about liquid liners. The Stila All Day Eye Liner is the only way! I keep trying out formulas to see if something else better will come along but alas nothing. I have tried the other Kat Von D formula, the matte version and its okay. The application is easy but watery compared to Stila. But I'll give this formula a try.
Description: An oil-free moisturizer with a multi-fruit AHA complex to even the skintone and smooth the skin's texture. Pea extract, sugar, and vitamin C work together to fade dark spots and even skintone. Antioxidant protection helps defend skin from future damage. It can be used as a base for makeup application, and it leaves skin looking and feeling soft, healthy, nourished, and radiant.
My Take: Well this came right on time! I was looking for a product with AHA. People who have dealt with hyperpigmentation swear by that ingredient, so I am very excited to try this out and kick my acne scars out of my Caucasian house!
Description: An easy-to-use solution that provides up to one week of more shiny, vibrant, manageable hair overnight, with benefits that last through five shampoos. It was engineered to intuitively target your hair’s needs for enhanced shine, vibrancy, and manageability delivered overnight, with results that last all week. An amino acid blend mimics amino acids found naturally in hair and penetrates into the cortex to keep hair smooth, soft, and supple. Time-release conditioners and antioxidants ensure hair is properly hydrated while remaining strong and protected from environmental assaults.
My Take: Five shampoos on natural hair can be months, so off break this wasn't designed with me in mind.
Description: Sud Magnolia is a floral and fresh fragrance with notes of magnolia from Louisiana, bitter orange from Seville, and atlas cedarwood from Morocco. The sharp tang of citrus blooms into a grand floral celebration. The woody drydown is reminiscent of antebellum elegance and nights of warm abandon.
My Take: This probably goes without saying, but I'd prefer NOT to smell like antebellum anything. Not a great time for my people.
