June's Play! By Sephora Box
June is my third Sephora play box and so far so good. (Check out the post on my first box here!) I've been able to try out some great (and not so great) products that I normally wouldn't have otherwise for a $10 a month. This month's theme was minimalism. These products are supposed to give you an effortlessly natural look that can be applied in 10 minutes or less. Check out these tutorials here from Sephora. Now let's get into the box!
This is definitely a highly sought after product in many beauty circles, but to be honest I kinda didn't understand what it did exactly. It claims to be part primer, part "filter" with crushed pearls for a lit from within look. I probably would have never bought this for myself, but I'll certainly give it a shot now.
I've ever only owned one bronzer in my life (and bless my heart I applied it ALL OVER my face). So clearly I would have never tried this. But the box suggested to try it as a contour so I might give that a try if it's dark enough.
I'm not trying this. I finally have my hair routine down and I'm not messing with it. Nothing against it, but my hair is soooo fickle.
I've been looking for a new SPF 30+ sunscreen so I'll be trying this out. Sephora's website describes it as "A portable, non-chemical sunscreen that helps to protect, moisturize, brighten, and re-invigorate skin for a youthful-looking appearance." Reviews are mixed. People like that it isn't thick and smelly like a normal sunscreen, but some complain that it's greasy and leaves a white cast.
This is definitely one of my favorite mascaras right up there with Better Than Sex. The falsie look claims are a bit exaggerated in my opinion and the mascara could go on a more smoothly, but it does give fantastic results. Worth the $20 price tag.
I am a fragrance snob and I will freely admit that. I like what I like and I don't like what I don't like. This is very powdery and with overwhelming gardenia notes, which comes off more drugstore than high-end. Hard pass on this.
Are you subscribed to the Play! by Sephora box? What other beauty subscription box should I consider trying out?
