How to Remove ALL Your Makeup

How to Remove ALL Your Makeup

I rarely wear a full face of makeup (read foundation). Why? I have oily skin and I can get never get it matte. The foundation gets everywhere. But mostly importantly, because it's a pain in the butt to get all of it off! My skin is pretty decent without foundation. I have some hyperpigmentation under my cheeks, but most days covering it up doesn't warrant the scrubbing I have to do to uncover it at the end of the day. But on the rare occasion I do wear foundation, I have a few steps to get it allllll off.

Step one: Use wipes to remove surface make-up.

For full face makeup days, I use Roc's Daily Resurfacing Disks for the first round of removal. The disks are pre-moistened in the jar and have both a smooth and a textured side. In the past, I haven't used the wipes every single day, but only on heavy makeup days or when I'm traveling. However, they leave my skin so soft I might start using them more often.

Two drawbacks to these wipes, however. I don't use them on my lips or eyes. Even though the package says you can use them to wipe off eye makeup, I got some in my eyes and it burned to the high heavens. So obviously, I don't want it in my mouth either.

So for my eyes and lips (and on light makeup days), I use Garnierยฎ Clean + Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes. The Garnier wipes are good for a light cleaning, but I'd have to use 3 or 4 wipes to get allll my foundation off.

Step Two: Wash my face

Regardless of how much makeup I wear, I either use my Clarisonic or EcoTools Konjac Pure Complexion Sponge to wash my face using Cetaphil DermaControl Oil Control Foam Wash. It's a bit harsher than the original formula, but keeps breakouts at bay.

Step Three: Tone, treat and moisturize

After very thoroughly cleaning my face, I tone, treat and moisturize. I recently started toning my skin with SheaMoisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Toner to help with my hyperpigmentation. (I'll let you guys know how it works!) After toning, I go in with one of my favorite products, RoC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream.

I got the cream in a fashion week package last September, but never used it until a few months ago and boy did it make a difference! I have dark circles under my eyes which I had been using tooooons of concealer to cover. But using the eye cream has drastically reduced the appearance of the dark circle. The finally, I finish up using Cetaphil's Oil Control Moisturizer.

What is your nightly skincare routine? How do you remove your makeup at the end of the day?
