Spring + summer 2016 New York fashion week is almost in the past. From the change in venues, stage street style shots and champagne filled parties, it can be easy to overlook the real purpose of this week: the clothes! So with our sights set to London, let's take a look at some of the fashion trends that took the runway.
Black is the new black
Outside of New York, the color black isn't really your first choice for spring and summer. Nevertheless, black was a dominant trend on the spring runway. Many designers ranging from Alice + Olivia to Derek Lam to Micheal Kors and Givenchy, opted to use the traditional fall / winter color but in sheer fabrics. We'll see a continuation of sheer tulle, chiffon, and organza trends this spring.
Fancy Fringed Footwear
Fringe, in general, has been trending for the past few seasons with the resurgence of groovy 70's vibes, but fringe shoes, in particular, are having a moment on the runway. From simple dainty stilettos to clunkier flats, this trend was seen at BCBG, Ohne Titel, Dion Lee and more. Get ready to pound the pavement next spring with fringed fancy footwear.
Ruffled necklines, ruffled sleeves, ruffled skirt. Ruffles, ruffles, ruffles. everywhere! If you aren't a fan of this free flowing feminine detail, you might want to get over that before the spring. Because it is taking over! Ruffles have invaded brands like Jason Wu, Tracy Reese, Prabal Gurung, Tome and many, many more. The dainty trend is sure to brighten up your spring day.
