Hello fellow gladiators! If you're anything like me, you've been dyyiiinnggggg to get back to the shenanigans of Pope and Associates! But also I'm obsessed with the insane chic fashions of America's top "fixer", Olivia Pope. Olivia is a fine example that femininity and power are not mutually exclusive. So how can you insert some gladiator style into your wardrobe? Read on to find out! Gladiator Suits
First things first. All gladiators need a sharp suit. In a political town like Washington, D.C., color palettes are very limited. A majority of Liv's suits are grey and white (and from the finest of designer labels). Simple neutrals make for easy, conservative, yet stylish mixing and matching. To stand out, Liv has her suits tailored to perfection and adds visual interest in small details like fabric, cut and structure. Look for tailored jackets in boucle and tweed, fitted business pants from bootcut to slim fit (but not toooo skinny), statement and architectural power bags, and a simple yet elegant pump. If you like a bit more color, check out outfit 3!
Gladiators get cold too, but this should not dampen one's style. You can spend a bit more on a good coats that will last you all season. (Or buy one on clearance right now for next season). As with the gladiator suits, focus on neutral colors that will match any outfit and on interesting details that will amp up your outfit. Olivia focused on swing coats with exaggerated collars
Now we know gladiators like to have fun but they keep it classy (well... at least clothing wise...) Liv's keeps the neutrals going in her personal life as well. She keeps her dresses fitted yet not too tight nor too short. And she kicks up the heel height. If you're a bit more adventurous , check out dress 3!
